In Person Mama Groups:
I typically offer in-person mama groups in the Spring and Summer. For other seasons, or if you’re looking for something a little different I am happy to recommend my friends at the following places:
Little Seeds – A gathering place and community hub for postpartum connection in Lafayette. They offer several in-person groups based on age cohort, as well as a host of other workshops and classes ranging from pregnancy to early childhood.
Online Groups and Classes:
Brilliant Births – A wonderful collective of doulas and other birth workers in the East Bay. They offer a hybrid class, mainly 6 weeks online but with in-person meetups at the end. When I had my daughter I also took advantage of some of their social gatherings and new mom hikes.
New Mama Mindset Group – A 4 week virtual community group for new mamas to celebrate the joys, explore the emotions, and lean in to the identity shifts that inevitably emerge in motherhood. Run by Jess, the founder of Lead and Be Well, a forever educator and learner, entrepreneur, yoga teacher and mama.
San Diego Breastfeeding Center – I took prenatal classes from a variety of groups and sources, and hands down SDBFC has the best lactation classes around. Highly recommend their “Back to Work, Still Breastfeeding” class. Not local, but very accessible! They also offer virtual lactation appointments.
Get Outside with Baby in Lamo / East Bay!:
Shimmy with your Sidekick Zumba – Get ready to groove—with your little sidekick in tow! Led by a local Oakland parent, this 45-minute baby-wearing dance party is all about shaking it out to real adult tunes (sorry, no Baby Shark here). Parents and caregivers get a fun, low-impact Zumba-style workout while keeping babies (0–18 months) snug and happy in their carriers. Come for the sweat, stay for the laughs—and build a community of friends who totally get it.
